MTHFR

MTHFR makes an enzyme that helps convert folate into a form used to process homocysteine. The common rs1801133 coding T version, which is genomic-forward A, makes a heat-sensitive enzyme with lower average activity. Its effect on blood folate and homocysteine varies with folate exposure. This common marker does not diagnose folate deficiency, inherited clotting risk, or recurrent pregnancy loss.
