NUDT15
NUDT15 inactivates thiopurine metabolites before they can be incorporated into DNA. Decreased- and no-function alleles can raise DNA-thioguanine exposure and the risk of severe drops in blood cells during azathioprine, mercaptopurine, or thioguanine treatment. A clinician must combine NUDT15 with TPMT, the treatment protocol, and blood tests.
