rs11031006

rs11031006 is a regulatory (non-coding) variant located roughly 26 kb upstream of FSHB, the gene encoding the beta subunit of follicle-stimulating hormone, within a region that binds the transcription factor SF1 and modulates FSHB expression. The minor G allele has been associated with higher luteinizing hormone and testosterone levels and with increased risk of polycystic ovary syndrome (PCOS) in genome-wide association studies of European and Chinese cohorts. It is used here alongside DENND1A and LHCGR variants as part of a polygenic context for PCOS risk.
