In one European-ancestry four-cohort meta-analysis, each A copy was linked to higher odds of correctly identifying pineapple in a four-choice smell test (OR 1.35; 95% CI 1.28-1.41). The association was separate from rs61902559, but the causal receptor or gene is unresolved. OR4A16 was a methylation-QTL annotation, not an established causal gene.
